IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is an English test designed to assess candidates’ language level. The so-called IELTS Institute in Lahore is aimed at students who are aiming for a prestigious English-speaking university. As its name suggests, it is intended to assess the Institute knowledge of candidates who aim to study abroad. To succeed, it is necessary to prepare well for the tests in advance by training and practicing.
This version of the exam allows faculties to know the level of understanding and expression in English of the candidate. The themes of the test are rather focused on the academic world, scientific research and human sciences.
How the IELTS Institute points system works
The IELTS Institute Lahore consists of four tests and an overall score ranging from 0 to 9 points. This 9-point scoring allows for equivalence with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
How is your score calculated?
Each IELTS Institute test has a specific mark, which is then converted into a score out of 9 points. Your overall test score is the average of these four marks.
The Listening test, i.e. oral comprehension, is made up of 40 questions, each worth 1 point. You will therefore obtain a mark out of 40, which is then reduced to a mark out of 9 points according to this conversion table from the British Council:
For the Writing test, namely the essay, you will have to write two texts of 150 to 250 words. For each of these texts, you will obtain a mark out of 9, your final mark for the test corresponding to the average of these two marks.
Finally, the Speaking skill, that is to say your ability to express yourself orally, is directly assessed on 9 points by the examiner. Divided into three parts, this test will allow you to speak in English on different subjects.
By calculating the average of your scores from the four tests, we obtain your final IELTS score.
